Play

ʻA child-centred provision is paramount to our philosophy, providing children the opportunity to learn through Play. We promote freedom of choice, confidence and self-esteem, which enhances the positive development of children as individuals.ʼ Kim Mabbutt, Head of Play

Our highly-subscribed, top-quality Play service offers local families After School Clubs, which operate
throughout the school term from 3.30-6pm and full-day Play Schemes, from 9.15am-5.45pm during halfterms and the holiday periods. These services offer children from the ages of four to twelve a
friendly environment in which they explore a wide variety of social, creative and recreational opportunities, as well as special events often run in partnership with external agencies. Our diverse programme of activities and resources meet ʻEvery Child Mattersʼ recommendations, whilst in our most recent Ofsted inspection we obtained ʻoutstandingʼ in three of the four categories, and ʻgoodʼ in the remaining one.

The Play service allows parents to enter or return to employment or education, whilst offering children the
opportunity to play in a safe environment which encourages their participation in managing their programme, and presents them with a plethora of creative and learning opportunities.
