HISTORY

The Winchester Project was established in 1973, as a response to needs in our local community. Prior to this, the building was a disused Victorian pub, abandoned until local activists decided to put it to good use as a facility for young people.

Tug of WarAs this work developed, so did the reputation and stature of the centre. During the 1980s and 1990s the
Winchester Project became synonymous with youthwork, establishing a reputation for high quality services for children and young people in the local community.

For over thirty years, we have consistently provided a wide range of innovative projects, aimed at increasing opportunity and developing skills in an evermore complex world. Our success is due to three key ingredients: our desire to impact, inspire and participate in the lives of children and young people, dedicated and experienced volunteers and staff, and a diverse Board of Trustees equipped with skill, experience and expertise to take us forward.
